Cooking Directions

  1. In large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. With mixer on low, gradually add flour mixture; beat until combined.
  5. Divide dough in half; flatten into disks.
  6. Wrap each in plastic; freeze until firm, at least 20 minutes, or place in a resealable plastic bag, and freeze up to 3 months (thaw in refrigerator overnight).

  9. Cool completely on wire racks.
  10. To ice cookies, spread with the back of a spoon.
  11. Let the icing harden, about 20 minutes. Decorate as desired.

This simple sugar cookie¬†recipe might look hard, but really it’s not. Just follow the recipe instructions and you will be just fine.

I love eating sugar cookies with my coffee or tea of an afternoon. The kids absolutely love them after a big day at school. I normally bake during the day so they are ready for when hubby and kids come home. Trust me, these sugar cookies don’t last very long…that’s how yummy they are.

If you’re like me and love to fancy things up, try adding some sprinkles on top. One of my friends likes adding some¬†cinnamon on hers, which also taste great. You can even cut them into fun shapes like stars, triangles or even animal shapes(kids love animal shapes).

Once you master this recipe you can do the prep time a lot faster.
